CTEHSC News for October

October 01, 2017

President's Update

Now that we are past the blizzard of paperwork that marks the start of another school year, I want to thank the C.T. English community for such a great start to the year!  Many of you have stepped up to take leadership roles in the C.T. English Home and School Club (CTEHSC) and I am truly grateful for your generous gift of time and effort.  We continue to have several volunteer roles available and I encourage all of you who are interested in contributing to our school and organization to join us. Please email me, Cris Vaughan, if you are interested in any of the open positions listed below.

With the help of additional volunteers our Cheetah Snack Shack is now open on Tuesdays. Buy your lunch cards online ahead of time. Enjoy the convenience of the Snack Shack while it lasts, as we will be losing our kitchen to the new construction in February 2018.

Congratulations to the winner of our CTEHSC “All Weather” Basket (auctioned at the LPEF Gala) whose child gets to skip to the front of the Snack Shack line every day with the  limited edition “Front of the Line” Snack Shack pass. There’s no reason for anymore  “I didn’t have time to eat” excuses. Also included were 5 lunch cards, lots of C.T. English swag, and some “liquid relaxation”.

We are now back on Facebook!  Follow us  and stay up-to-date on all CTEHSC events, announcements, programs, and more.

Cheers,

Cris Vaughan

Sports News: Cross Country Meet

C.T. English Middle School hosted the final cross country meet of the season, before the League Championship, last Wednesday (October 4th) after school at the Loma field. Our boys and girls teams ran hard and fast and showed that hard work pays off. Congratulations team!

The event was a tremendous success thanks to the support of the parent and student volunteers who set up the course, manned positions on the race course at the tree farm, guided runners on the track and into the finishing chutes, hosted the Loma Snack Shack, and arranged for Kona Ice to be available to cool down our athletes and spectators.

This Wednesday we have the League Championships at JD Morgan Park in Campbell. We need more parent volunteers and students who can earn their community service by helping on the race course. Please email Nancy Lanovaz if you can help.

CTEHSC Board meeting

The next CTEHSC Board meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 11th at 8:30am in the shared portable meeting room (near the kinder play yard). All parents are welcome to attend. If you are interested in joining the CTEHSC Board,  please email Cris Vaughan.

Fun Night: Fall Dance

Our first dance of the year will be on Friday, October 27th from 7-9pm in the Loma Forum. The theme is “Glow in the Dark”!

We will host a raffle for Snack Shack lunch passes - 2 passes per grade, each having a $20 value.  Admission is free for students who have purchased an All-Access Pass, otherwise it is $10 at the door. Students attending this event must currently be enrolled at C.T. English Middle School and must have a permission slip on file to participate in Fun Nights.
